The Dismisal Of Rodrigo Kenton: Thoughts
Rodrigo’s Kenton’s panicky changes to his squad before the two most recent Costa Rican qualifiers did him in. As we discussed last week, Kenton was going to live or die with a less experienced side than had taken Costa Rica to the top the Hexagonal table.
Kenton was ultimately sacked, after the Ticos were outscored 8-0 in three consecutive World Cup qualifying loses. Kenton’s mild mannered and laid back approach helped Costa Rica find its footing after heroic former player Hernan Medford was sacked last June, but the Ticos took on water as Kenton’s decisions became odder and odder.
More of my thoughts on Kenton’s sacking and how it relates to the USMNT here.
