USL Podcast with Brian Quarstad (and Kartik)

On Wednesday’s edition of World Soccer Reader’s Inside the Six, I welcome Inside Minnesota Soccer’s Brian Quarstad to update my listeners on the news surrounding the United Soccer Leagues.

As readers of this site know, the USL is at a crossroads, where the franchises represented in the Team Owners Association continue to contemplate a breakaway league. To understand the significance of that move, you must understand the history, structure, and current state of the USL.

Brian, who has worked with Kartik throughout the summer to keep U.S. soccer fans up-to-date on this story, walks us through the whole story – from Francisco Marcos’s initial decision to sell shares of his league to NuRock’s reluctance to work with the TOA.

At the end of the show, I was lucky enough to have Brian and Kartik in the same place to speculate about what the future holds for the league.

You can get the podcast at World Soccer Reader (direct link) or via my iTunes feed.

If you have any questions about the ever-developing USL situation, please use the comments. There has been a bit of a lull in the news, but discussions on all sids continue, and we remain at a pivotal point.
